The average cost is $2,000. Country of Origin: Georgia The Caucasian Shepherd Dog, or Caucasian Ovcharka, was forged in Georgia by the Soviet Union as a mighty worker. Soviet breeders fused Azerbaijani and Georgian Shepherds to craft this force, also called Caucasian Mountain Dog or Nagazi.

The American Kennel Club cautions against underestimating its bold, guarding instincts. Some breeders say it can down a wolf, but its stubborn streak calls for firm training to curb risks.
